Justin Lim – Art Expo Malaysia Plus

Richard Koh Fine Art (RKFA) is pleased to present Modern Absurdity and the Superficial Abyss by Justin Lim at Art Expo Malaysia Plus, Booth A3, Hall A, MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 10 – 13 Sept, 2015. Modern Absurdity and the Superficial Abyss will be the artist’s third solo art fair presentation following There is No Other Paradise at Art Stage Singapore in 2014 and Art Taipei, Taiwan in 2013. This presentation is also an extension of the artist’s solo exhibition at Richard Koh Fine Art in Bangsar Village II, Level 2, Lot No. 2F-3, Jalan Telawi 1, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia running from 8 – 23 Sept, 2015. The opening reception for the gallery exhibition is on the 8^th of Sept (Tues) from 6 – 9 pm.

His current series titled Modern Absurdity and the Superficial Abyss consisting of textured paintings painted entirely in black and painted portraits of eyes explores the idea of illumination in art and painting that plays on the notion of truth-seeking within an illusionary space. This body of work as stated by the artist takes advantage of various allegories to create visual narratives that document his perceptions and experiences through his art practice. Justin informs that as an artist, he is constantly in a state of flux, digesting and questioning the relevance of art and its role in a contemporary context.
