Le Quoc Thanh

Le Quoc Thanh (b.1975, Vietnam) is a Ho Chi Minh City-based artist whose practice works with painting and assemblage. Despite dropping out of Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Art a year after he was enrolled, Thanh continued his art practice through means of self-studying, doing freelance jobs, and honing his primary mediums. He pushes the boundaries of both mediums by combining them and adding found objects and text into his paintings.

Thanh’s first solo exhibition was in Da Lat in 2001. Other solo exhibitions include two solo exhibitions in S. O. C Saigon in 2013, a solo exhibition in Saigon Domain in 2014. In 2018, he has also participated in a residency exchange with Baik Art in Seoul, South Korea as part of MoT+++’s exchange collaboration with Baik Art. There, he presented a solo exhibition. He was awarded The Best New Artist in Saigon by Australia in 2006.

His most recent solo exhibition was titled Le Quoc Thanh (2022) at CUC Gallery, Hanoi, Vietnam.
