Phatcharaphan Chanthep – What A Difference A Day Makes

Richard Koh Projects is pleased to announce Phatcharaphan Chanthep (b.1987) highly anticipated third solo exhibition in Thailand, What A Difference A Day Makes, scheduled to run from 1 – 23 March 2019 at Richard Koh Projects. The artist will be showcasing five new watercolour on paper works. The opening reception will be held on 1 March 2019 (Friday), from 5 – 8pm.

In Chanthep’s latest body of works, the artist challenges viewers on the complexities of time and its effects on reality. Through her mastery of watercolour, Chanthep attempts to reconcile the past and future by unfolding the progression of time vis-à-vis pop culture references and historical icons. Her visual cues are familiar yet displaced, and purposefully juxtaposed. There is also a certain degree of historical distortion within the visual narrative, muddling the lines between existence and myth, suggesting possible intersecting futures. Most importantly, the works stand as a poignant reminder of the ripple effects of time, and its echo into the future. Even a seemingly insignificant day can reverberate large changes into the future.

A proud alumni from the faculty of Fine and Applied Art, Chulalongkorn University, Chanthep’s career as an artist has grown in leaps and bounds since she graduated in 2008. Having an artist father has also tremendously shaped her practice. After her first successful solo in 2014, Chanthep received numerous offers for exhibition and saw herself participating in the prestiges 2014 Watercolour International II in Thessaloniki, Greece, in which her work graced the main exhibition poster. She has since participated in numerous overseas watercolour exhibitions and biennales including the 1st International Watercolour 2016 Biennale in Hong Kong and 2nd Tirana International Watercolour 2017 Biennale in Albania.

พัชชาได้เริ่มอาชีพศิลปินอย่างจริงจังและมีการพัฒนาอย่างก้าวกระโดดหลังจากเธอจบการศึกษาจาก
คณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ในปี พ.ศ.2551 การมีคุณพ่อเป็นศิลปินช่วยให้
เธออยากฝึกซ้อมและพัฒนาตนเองให้เก่งเหมือนพ่อ พัชชามีผลงานเดี่ยวครั้งแรกที่ประสบความสําเร็จ เป็นที่น่าพอใจในปี พ.ศ.2557 หลังจากนั้นเธอก็ได้รับข้อเสนอให้แสดงนิทรรศการอีกมากมาย หลายครั้ง หนึ่งในนิทรรศการที่น่าประทับใจนั้นคือ นิทรรศการสีน้ําที่ประเทศกรีซ หรือ Watercolor International II in Thassaloniki, Greece ซึ่งครั้งนี้งานของเธอได้รับเลือกให้ถูกจัดพิมพ์เป็นโปสเตอร์ในนิทรรศการด้วย
