As We Were presents selected works from the collection of Michaelangelo and Lourdes Samson, which celebrates the diverse practices and conceptual concerns of artists in Southeast Asian region. The works reflect different political and social landscapes, environmental issues, and varied spiritual ideas but also provide a glimpse into the shared humanity and similar lived experiences of the people who call this region home.
Works from Faris Nakamura, Minstrel Kuik, Natee Utarit and Svay Sareth are selected for the show as they, together with other works, offered as a contemplation of how much has changed throughout the pandemic since early last year, and how much still remain the same. As we were. Perhaps as we are still.
