Natagon Khamkayprong – I Am A Still Life Painter

Richard Koh Fine Art Bangkok is pleased to present a solo exhibition, “I am a Still Life Painter” by Thai artist Natagon Khamkayprong, whose work embodies the pursuit of simplicity amidst the complexity of contemporary life.

Natagon Khamkayprong’s practice revolves around the philosophy that living is not a rejection of society, but a conscious choice to retain only what supports coexistence with others and the surrounding environment. This ethos is reflected in his painting process: by reducing unnecessary elements and details and adopting a deliberate, uncomplicated working method, his works focus on the essential qualities of objects and spaces.

Through this approach, his oil paintings achieve a clarity and balance that reflect a harmonious way of living. The exhibition invites viewers to engage with the fundamental aspects of life and art, offering a moment of quiet contemplation in contrast to the fast-paced world. His work encourages a mindful relationship between creation, the self, and society, demonstrating that simplicity can be both deliberate and profound.

NATAGON KHAMKAYPRONG (b. April 1993, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand) studied Painting in the Fine and Applied Arts Program at Burapha University before completing a master’s degree in Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University. His practice draws inspiration from simple, everyday subjects and immediate surroundings, where close observation becomes a way to uncover personal meaning and emotional resonance. Focusing on clarity and reduction, he removes unnecessary elements in both life and art, retaining only essential forms that sustain his connection to each subject. Working often with a one-time painting approach, Natagon emphasizes directness and efficiency in process. His paintings convey solitude and quiet calm, reflecting shifting moods while linking lived experience with visual expression.
