Pawarest Choksaen (Doe) – Blue Town

Richard Koh Fine Art (Bangkok) is pleased to present Blue Town, a solo exhibition by Thai artist Pawarest Choksaen, exploring the perseverance, rhythm, and quiet hope that define life in a small yet ever-awake city.

In Blue Town, Pawarest reflects on the human condition within the urban landscape — a place where people from all walks of life converge in pursuit of a better and more secure future. Whether driven by ambition or necessity, each individual carries their own dreams and aspirations amid a city defined by relentless motion and unseen struggle.

Through scenes that flow from day to night, Pawarest captures the cycles of daily life: mornings filled with movement and purpose, evenings that see workers and families returning home, and nights illuminated by those whose labours begin when others rest. The artist’s compositions resonate with empathy and observation, portraying not only the physical environment but also the emotions that underpin perseverance — fatigue, resilience, and hope.

Blue Town ultimately presents the city as both imperfect and inspiring. It stands as a metaphor for endurance and possibility — a place that rewards effort and determination, and a testament to those who continue to dream despite life’s challenges. Embarking on his career in 1991 as a freelance sculpture artist, PAWAREST (DOE) CHOKSAEN (b.1970, Bangkok, Thailand) transitioned into the role of Art Director at an advertising agency in 1997. In 2019, he made the pivotal decision to resign from the advertising agency, embracing a full-time commitment to his passion as a fine artist.

In his artistic journey, Choksaen delves into the lives of those in his community, keenly observing their gestures, activities, and diverse perspectives. Through the expressive medium of acrylic paintings, his works become windows into the stories that unfold in the everyday lives of individuals within different contexts.
