Born on September 16, 1996, in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, KANOKPON SOMCHUA graduated with a master’s degree from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University.
Baan Ton Riang, in Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, is where the artist was born and raised. It is where his life began, with the land, forest, mountains, sky, and sunlight shaping his being. These natural surroundings are not just material objects or resources to fulfill human needs but the source of life, nourishing all beings, including humans. They mold life and consciousness, shaping both the artist’s form and inner abstract thoughts.
This connection to nature prompted the artist to reflect and understand themselves through their birthplace’s environment. Their creative process involves practicing awareness and being conscious of their surroundings, recognizing their relationship with nature. By observing the external world as a model and reflecting on their inner emotions and feelings, they convey these insights into their art. The artist’s work captures the beauty found in the rhythms and branches of trees and forests, translating the stories, experiences, and emotional states inspired by nature into visual creations that explore the connection between themselves and their environment.
