Georg Óskar – The Color of Fog

Richard Koh Fine Art (RKFA) Singapore is pleased to announce The Color of Fog, a solo exhibition by Icelandic artist Georg Óskar, taking place from 26 July to 23 August 2025 at RKFA Singapore. This exhibition marks Óskar’s latest presentation with the gallery and features a new body of work exploring the quiet tensions of transformation and introspection.

The Color of Fog presents paintings that are shaped by the margins of everyday life, reflecting moments of transition and emotional complexity. The works emerge from Óskar’s shift into parenthood and the liminal space between memory and becoming. Rooted in the elusive qualities of time and change, these paintings capture the stillness of in-between states—neither arrival nor departure, but the pause in between.

With fog as a central metaphor, Óskar draws attention to the mutable and atmospheric quality of experience. Just as fog obscures and quiets, his works reveal clarity not through definition, but through feeling. The artist embraces this ambiguity, guiding viewers through scenes touched by grief, absurdity, tenderness, and fleeting joy.

Óskar’s practice remains characterized by a distinctive visual language that is both expressive and contemplative. In this exhibition, he offers a deeply personal reflection on the act of making space, in art and life, and the search for form amidst fluidity. As much as these works are records of lived experience, they are also quiet invitations to linger, to look, and to feel.

At the core of Georg Óskar (b.1985, Akureyri, Iceland) ’s creative exploration lies a profound journey into the essence of everyday existence, encompassing the natural world and the intricacies of human experiences. His work serves as a visual diary, chronicling personal observations and inviting viewers to embark on a transformative introspection.

Through meticulous craftsmanship, Óskar carefully constructs compositions that provide multiple entry points, encouraging contemplation of the intricate complexities of contemporary life. Infused with his distinctive perspective, his narratives possess a subtle layer of sarcasm, yet remain genuine reflections of lived experiences and the constructed environments that shape our perceptions. Amidst his palette’s depth, a delicate balance emerges—a levity and innocence acting as a psychological counterbalance, enabling an intrigued distance from the profane, the dark, and the obscene. It is within this interplay that Óskar captivates audiences, urging them to explore the intermingling realms of the ordinary and extraordinary while contemplating the enigmatic harmony between them.

In Óskar’s creations, viewers are transported to a realm where the mundane is endowed with new meaning, and the subtle nuances of everyday life are illuminated. Each stroke and meticulously crafted composition invites a deeper engagement, inspiring reflection on our own existence. Within this enigmatic interplay, Óskar’s work breathes with a sense of wonder and curiosity, beckoning us to question, discover, and rediscover the profound beauty that lies within the tapestry of our shared human experience.

Georg Óskar’s creative journey is a testament to the power of keen observation and introspection, offering a lens through which we can explore the intricacies of our world. Through his evocative narratives, he encapsulates the essence of our existence, inviting us to delve into the extraordinary within the ordinary, while contemplating the enigmatic harmonies that reside in the spaces in between.
