Richard Koh Fine Art (RKFA) is thrilled to announce its return to Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2024, with a compelling group presentation featuring works by Natee Utarit (Thailand), Justin Lim (Malaysia), and Wah Nu (Myanmar). This marks the gallery’s continued participation at Untitled Art, Miami Beach following the successful solo presentation of Justin Lim in 2023.
For 2024, the RKFA booth will present a dynamic collection of paintings that explore artistic perspectives across cultural and geographical borders. The featured artists, each with a distinct visual language, engage with themes of identity, memory, and contemporary society while contributing to the broader discourse on Southeast Asian art.
This group presentation is a testament to RKFA’s commitment to supporting and promoting Southeast Asian artists on the global stage. Through the works of Natee Utarit, Justin Lim, and Wah Nu, visitors to the booth will experience a profound and immersive exploration of the diversity and richness of contemporary art from the region.
Natee Utarit (b.1970, Bangkok, Thailand) will showcase a series of thought-provoking works that continue his investigation of Western art history through an Eastern lens. Utarit’s symbolic compositions challenge perceptions of history, culture, and power. His meticulously detailed paintings blend classical art references with contemporary societal commentary, inviting viewers to reflect on the nature of storytelling and representation.
Justin Lim (b.1983, Malaysia), returning after his successful solo presentation at Untitled Art, Miami Beach 2023, will exhibit works from his new series Suburbia Moon. This body of work delves into the subtle beauty of suburban spaces and everyday objects, reflecting Lim’s connection to his upbringing in Kuala Lumpur. Inspired by the views through windows, terrace houses, and ornamental plants, Lim’s vibrant compositions invite viewers to contemplate the often-overlooked moments of domestic life. Through these scenes, he explores themes of memory, identity, and belonging, using familiar imagery to evoke emotional resonance and introspection.
Wah Nu (b.1977, Yangon, Myanmar) presents Clouds, a series of striking cloud paintings that encourage viewers to pause and embrace a moment of stillness. This body of work, born from the artist’s desire to escape life’s pressures, uses vibrant colors and playful compositions to transform clouds into a metaphor for detachment and reflection. The dreamlike quality of her paintings invites viewers to let their thoughts drift, engaging with the artwork as a space for contemplation. Clouds reaffirms Wah Nu’s view of painting as a joyful act of play, offering a respite from the demands of everyday life.
